Beauty Hack: Sleeping on a Satin Pillowcase

Beauty Hack: Sleeping on a Satin Pillowcase

I had read a little bit about the beauty benefits of sleeping on a satin pillowcase, and about a month ago I saw one at a store and thought I’d put it to the test.  Turns out I looove it!  For a number of reasons, I am so pleased with what my new silky friend has done for my hair and skin and I want to share with you guys why!

Favorites first: the best beauty benefit of sleeping on a satin pillowcase for me is what it’s done for my skin.  I sleep in approximately 1/4 inch of Egyptian Magic plus a serum every night and it has always bothered me that it rubbed off so quickly during the night.

(Also worth noting that I sleep on my stomach so my face is just all up in that pillow).

The silk of the pillowcase is much less absorbant than cotton, and therefore helps your skin retain moisture.  It’s really been helping me get the most out of my nighttime creams and serums and wake up with bright and glowy skin.

The next lovely outcome of sleeping on silky smoothness is that it results in much less bed head hair.  I won’t say that it goes away completely, because that also depends on how you sleep and how much you move around at night.  However, the silk is much more gentle on hair and results in less knots, kinks and less crazy baby hairs (which was my main problem).

Also satin helps reduce the friction on your hair, which helps prevent breakages and split ends.

Silk is hypoallergenic.  I don’t have any allergies but I always go for hypoallergenic bedding where possible.  I love that the material has a natural resistance to dust.

The jury is still out on this one, as I’m not facing any wrinkle woes just yet, but silk is known to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.

It’s luxurious

Quite honestly, it just feels lovely to sleep on!  I’ve never really had silk pajamas or anything, so I never knew how nice the material feels, but it is so comfy.  The luxuriousness alone sold me on this pillowcase from the first night!

Here are some options for a satin pillowcase on any budget:

Slip from Sephora -$79.00
Morning Glamour (Set of 2) – $19.99
LilySilk -$32.00
Dry Bar from Sephora -$45.00

What do you guys think? Would you give it a try?

Ciao ciao,

Hey! I had heard of the pillow case, I wonder is the sheets just a luxury or if it’s got benefits to?! Defo something to look into, thanks ladies! Mrs S. xx

      • March 9, 2017 / 11:04 pm

I’m not sure if the silk sheets have other benefits but the luxury alone is a reason to buy! haha

      • March 9, 2017 / 11:05 pm

It’s really worth it. And it’s fun to have something luxurious just for yourself! 🙂

      • March 10, 2017 / 8:37 am

Yes, I agree! Did you end up getting the sheets too already?!

      • March 10, 2017 / 9:03 am

I haven’t yet! I have to still shop around and compare prices. I might want to get pajamas first!

      • March 10, 2017 / 9:16 am

Pajamas sounds super fancyy! Do that😍

      • March 10, 2017 / 10:15 am

  4. March 4, 2017 / 3:02 pm

I love my satin pillowcase too! It works wonders!

  5. March 4, 2017 / 3:07 pm

Have you ever tried a face saving pillow? It has a cut away piece right where your eye area is. Sounds weird and hard to explain but really works! I used to use one and literally used it death! Took some getting used to but eventually had to part with it in the end as it went all floppy. 😕 will have to invest in a satin or silk pillow case!

    • March 5, 2017 / 11:07 am

Wow interesting, I’ve never heard of it. But since I sleep on my stomach, it sounds like it could be a good idea for me, thank you!

      • March 5, 2017 / 4:18 pm

If you google anti pressure/ wrinkle Pillow you can have a look. They are really good if you’re someone who wakes up with creases all over the side of your face! As I said they do take time to get used to but do really work!

      • March 9, 2017 / 11:03 pm

Oh ok cool I will do that. So interesting, I never knew about it. Thank you 🙂

Hi! I’ve been using one that I actually picked up in a T.J. Maxx store that is 100% silk but any of the brands I recommended at the end of my post are great options. Just make sure whichever you buy that it is 100% silk for the best results! 🙂
