Looking Forward :: Resolutions For A Bright New Year

Looking Forward :: Resolutions For A Bright New Year

Buongiorno!

I was thinking of what I wanted to do on the topic of a New Year/ Resolution post, but I’m honestly a little torn on the whole concept of setting this list of goals on January 1st for the year.

I like to set new goals all the time.  When I decide I want to travel more, lose weight, eat healthier etc., I start that goal that day and work toward making it happen.  I also prefer to view time on a day-to-day and even moment-to-moment basis rather than group events or periods of gains or losses into years.  That being said, it is nice to feel that fresh slate feeling of a new year, so I do set in place some new ideas to drive me into it.

Of course setting goals is important, but the pressure surrounding new year’s resolutions (when they often tend to fizzle out by mid February anyways) can be a bit much. So for the new year I set broader goals with bigger concepts and keep them in mind everyday.  In my life right now, there are, of course, some things I’d like to work on in the new year and some different perspectives I’d like to gain.  I’ve taken inspiration for these new points of view from some quotes that I have recently found.

EXACTLY!! I’m not willing to sacrifice my peace for anything or anyone. And great relationships and people won’t be subtracting from your peace, they will be helping to create it!

This one and the next one are HUGE (at least for me ). Maintaining my balance and peace no matter what gets thrown at my from others is one of my biggest lessons right now.

Easier said than done, but a really great concept to keep in mind. I really love this quote and try to keep it in mind whenever I’m upset from something that another person did or said to me.  If only our moods could be reflective of just our feelings and thoughts. It’s possible!

Even after a lifetime of my mom engraining into my brain that my thoughts and feelings create, I still have insecurities and thoughts of dissatisfaction from time to time with my body particularly.  Another big one for 2017 is only only positive thoughts toward myself at all times — no exceptions!

One of my readers just sent me this the other day, actually and I’m in love with it.  I feel to be in a period right now where nothing is sure, and I’m just rolling with it with the optimism that anything can happen.

And last but not least, with whatever resolutions you make…

Do it!! Take the plunge and figure out how to follow your goals. You can only regret not going for it.

I wish each and every one of you a positive, bright, happy, and healthy new year and I will see you all in 2017!

Buon anno!

Amanda

Totally agree with you. Not one for resolutions but always one for a fresh start. I love these and definitely needed to read them today!

I think people are slowly beginning to come around to it, but always get carried away in the moment when they see others making resolutions, haha. Like you said, perspective is the main thing I’d like to work on and hopefully everything else will fit right into place 🙂 All the best x

I heard it said somewhere, that we overestimate what we can accomplish in a year, but underestimate what we can accomplish in a decade. Tony Robbins, I think…but it is an interesting perspective. Happy New Year, I look forward to more fabulous photos.

I liked that part about talking to yourself and listening to yourself.
I have never ever written any resolutions, not because I don’t have goals, but because I absolutely hate any lists. I love having everything in my head, so no need to write anything down.
It’s good to memorize things instead of writing them down. Drawing develops extreme visual memory.
You have placed good thoughtful quotes in this post. Happy rewarding 2017 from https://inesepogalifeschool.com/

Thank you for this wonderful post Amanda! I love the quotes about maintaining your inner peace, I too take it personally when people behave towards me in a way I don’t appreciate but it’s totally their own issues and nothing to do with me! Let’s keep the peace in 2017 x
