My Favorite Wellness Posts of 2016

Ciao tutti!

The Bellezza Corner is just about one year old now (!) and as part of reflecting on 2016, I thought I’d do a little recap of my favorite wellness posts of the year.  When I was just starting out, I put a lot into writing some wellness posts to help provide a base for my blog’s content going forward. They are all interesting topics that I find myself bringing up again and again in my more current posts.  So I thought I’d throw it back in case you missed some cool information!

I’ve also gotten a bunch of new subscribers recently, which is super super exciting!! I’m currently at about 2,500 subscribers, and probably 60% of those have joined me just in the last two-three months! So for all you newcomers, welcome, welcome, welcome! (Cue the “Welcome to Illyria” song from “She’s The Man” …welcome welcome welcome welcome 😀 ) For those that get the reference, we shall get along just fine.

Anywho, here are my favorite wellness posts of the year:

1.  Little-Known Facts About Drinking Water To Boost Your Beauty From The Inside Out!

This was one of my first ever posts! It seems like almost everyday there’s some dispute about water consumption so I outlined what I’ve found works for me, including some facts about important times and ways to drink water for optimal benefits!

2. What’s Really In That “Nutritious” Smoothie


So many people enjoy smoothies regularly, with the expectation that they are all healthy and nutritious.  However, there are a lot of ingredients to be mindful of and ingredients that we may be misinformed about.  In this post I explain which ingredients are best and which to avoid where possible for the best digestion and beauty results.

3. DIY Detox Bath — Removing Heavy Metals


This is a super old (and simple!) “recipe” that my mom taught me when I was little and I’ve practiced it ever since.  It’s a two ingredient bath that helps pull toxins out of your body.  Doesn’t get much easier than that!

4. What To Put In That Cup First Thing In The Morning!


The crux of my morning routine! What I drink and why it’s great for you!

5. Beauty Product Ingredients To Absolutely Avoid + Alternative Products





I truly live by this information. As soon as I became aware of it, I never looked back and have been examining ingredient labels ever since — with shocking results! So many of our skincare and beauty products are just filled with unnecessary chemicals.  Fortunately there are loads of companies becoming aware of this and making changes. So there are tons of alternatives. 🙂





6. Take A Deep Breath — The Power Behind Our Most Automatic Function


This post summarizes maybe the most important health information I have learned in 2016. I read this incredible book by Pam Grout that changed the way I breathe, and consequently, my health.  There is so much value to full breathing that we may not have ever thought about -I certainly hadn’t- that can improve our health/weight/stress levels tremendously.

I would love to know what you’re best health/wellness information this year was! I think it’s so amazing how there is always something new to learn that can change up your whole lifestyle.

    Hi there. I have just discovered spirulina. I had never heard of it before seeing a smoothie in the local supermarket which looked like it must be nice given it was all natural juices…and when I read about spirulina I was amazed at what a super food it is…

      Spirulina is awesome!! And you can toss it (in powder form) into just about anything! I haven’t incorporated it in a while but now you’ve reminded me of it. 🙂

        Powder…would you just apply your own powder to your own drinks or would you put it in food as well? I assume it might be unpleasant if you just mix with water…but happy to be told otherwise…🙂

        I have only ever incorporated the powder in salad dressings and in smoothies. In water I don’t think it would taste so great either haha but you could still do it!

    Your blog is SO well done — I’ve always admired it — so I was surprised that it is only a year old. That’s a great success with your numbers girl!
    I would have to say the best health/wellness information for me, is from experience this year, with focusing much more on eating wholefoods as much as possible, and also changing my eating pattern to intermittent fasting. I have seen a rise in progress and my body feels so much better inside and out!
