S O R R E N T O : I T A L I A

“You may have the universe if I may have Italy” – Giuseppe Verdi

Truer words were never spoken.

The place I spent the most time in on my trip, and saw the most of, was Sorrento.  Sorrento is a positively STUNNING place, with little treasures to be found throughout.

I didn’t take pictures of every single thing, because I had to live it after all 🙂 But I did capture what I thought were the most amazing and beautiful parts of the city, so here you go! <3

My favorite place of my whole vacation was the Bagni della Regina Giovanna, or the Baths of the Queen Giovanna.  The little lagoon is found at the bottom of what was once an ancient Roman villa.  From the sea you can more easily see the ruins of the villa itself, but being in the natural bath is just so cool.  There is an extremely long driveway down to it, and then a set of steep stairs to reach the water.  I swam in there for a long time just marveling at the natural beauty of the whole place.  If you want to feel like a mermaid, (and who doesn’t?), come here and swim around for a while… (Fun fact: In the legend of Ulysses, the town next to this one is where the mermaids came up to shore… 🙂 )

Then I went back up the stairs where I took the picture at the top of this post where the baths meet the sea 🙂  Just STUNNING.

This one was taken on the outside of the ruins.  They were all rocks where you could lay out and enjoy all this natural beauty.

This next photo is of the Valle dei Mulini or Valley of the Mills. More incredible ruins..

And I’ll leave you with an equally stunning sunset…

E’ da vedere, Sorrento..

A presto,

Such a beautiful sunset with the perfect lighting. Reminded me of a favorite poem. “for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
    Of all the western stars”
And thanks for visiting my blog.

The photo of the ruins was one of my fav in this post. They’re eerie, but still so captivating.
