Ciao tutti 🙂
In today’s soul food, I’m talking about the importance on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels of cleaning, cleaning out, and organizing yourself and your space. There’s a lot to be said for this often monotonous task, but it is really helpful and necessary for maintaining an inner peace and balance.
The “stuff” in our lives is more than just stuff- it holds energy, fills our everyday spaces at home and work, and is a part of our everyday lives. Since our things can influence our energy, mood, and sense of peace, organizing and getting rid of what no longer serves us is in our best interest. We can improve our balance (with minimal effort) via cleaning in a couple of ways. First up:
Cleaning
By cleaning, I mean sweeping, dusting, and wiping clean surfaces. This is probably the easiest and quickest way to bring back control over your space and produce a good, clean energy in your home or even at your desk at work. I love dusting the wooden floors of my apartment and I can tell that the feeling of cleanliness that I have afterward is more than just a relief that I’m now dust-free. It’s a cleansing of dirty, days-old energy, and this always feels great. The next time you’re in a funky mood, or you just want to cleanse yourself of a bad mood, try dusting or wiping your counters or desk. It sounds silly, but it’s a shift in energy that occurs, it’s more than just the physical.
Organizing
I know that with organizing, some people have “it” and some people don’t, but organizing is an excellent way to let positive energies flow in your house and office and it can provide a real sense of peace and control. It’s really important- again, beyond the obvious clean look it gives- to not leave clothes and shoes around the house. Clutter and mess in the physical space translates to clutter and mess in the emotional space. Even if you don’t really notice it, the disorganization in your home is probably contributing to your emotional body on a subconscious level. I know that when my desk at work is a mess, I am completely unable to get my stuff straight and my mind focused. It’s really a quick fix that’s well worth the work.
Cleaning out/ throwing stuff away!
I saved the best for last. Trashing things and giving things away has got to be my favorite type of cleaning. I think few things feel as good as cleaning out your closet and ridding yourself of old energy that you may have stored there or that you may be holding on to. Clothes that I haven’t worn in one year, I always give away or throw away (if they are in bad condition), making way for new energy. As we move into fall, it might be a good time to go through some of your things too 🙂 Even if I just toss one or two things, the feeling is really satisfying. As we are always changing and evolving, we can’t hold on to old things or things that don’t serve us anymore. Even tough they are just clothes or “things,” they hold an energy in our lives and spaces. And if they no longer serve us, we have to clean out and let the new energies flow in.
Let me know your thoughts and comments below and happy cleaning! 🙂

I agree with all of this! If my house is messy/dusty/unorganized I feel so tense and anxious but just sweeping can make a huge difference in the way I feel, it’s pretty incredible

Thank you ❤️
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not a constant cleaner, but I do love things to be organized. I spent a ton of time today on my calendar. My husband always complains that he doesn’t remember where I’m going. He asks me so many times each day. Today I made him a little binder with my calendar for a year. It took me a long time to put all the events I already know about into it, but I feel great that it’s done. 🙂 I cleaned off my desk, too. Yeah!

Yeah! It’s definitely worth the work to get that sense of peace 🙂
This is some really good piece of thought. I agree with you. The cleaning of one space, soul and physical is really helpful. Holding on to excess things in terms of goods or cluttered space subverts the flow of energy very much like dissipation of sound energy by big curtains in a cinema hall or auditorium. Well written.

Hello! Thank you for liking my recent post! I love your idea of clean out old energy…totally agree! As they say “tidy room, tidy mind.” I whole heartedly agree!

Aw thanks for the read. 😊 Yes so true! ❤️
I love cleaning my apartment because it’s always a great excuse to turn on some music and sing along to it while doing that 😀 Yeah, definitely helps my inner balance 🙂

Haha I do the same. And then you get wrapped up in it and it’s not so bad 😊
Nice article. I also recommend using incense or burning Sage, ring a bell (Tibetan) to clear the energy space.

Thank you! Yeah I love burning sage, but I forget about incense! I should get some 😊
Sounds good!
